Abstract Myeloid cells are an inherent part of the microenvironment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). There is growing evidence for their participation in mechanisms of tumor escape, especially in development of resistance following initially promising anti‐VEGF/VEGFR treatment. Thus, we sought to define the capability of myeloid cells to contribute to the expression of proangiogenic molecules in human GBM. We investigated GBM specimens in comparison to anaplastic astrocytoma (WHO grade III) and...
Abstract SETDB1 is a histone lysine methyltransferase that has critical roles in cancers. However, its potential role in gastric cancer (GC) remains obscure. Here, we mainly investigate the clinical significance and the possible role of SETDB1 in GC. We find that SETDB1 expression is upregulated in GC tissues and its high‐level expression was a predictor of poor prognosis in patients. Overexpression of SETDB1 promoted cell proliferation and metastasis, while SETDB1 suppression had an opposite effect...
Abstract Nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) was suggested as an entity separate from other types of Hodgkin lymphoma 40 years ago and recognized in the WHO classification in 2001. Based on its relatively benign course with late distant relapses, relation with lymph node hyperplasia with progressively transformed germinal centers, presence of clonal immunoglobulin gene rearrangements with somatic hypermutations and ongoing mutations, and relation with a number of inherited defects...

Primary Intraosseous Squamous Cell Carcinoma Involving the Jaw Bones: A Systematic Review and Update
Abstract Primary intraosseous oral squamous cell carcinoma (PIOSCC) is a rare malignant neoplasm that affects the jaws. Despite its aggressive biological behavior, there are no studies that evaluated the clinicopathological features of this tumor and parameters associated with its prognosis. The objective of the present study was to conduct a systematic review of the available data on oral and maxillofacial PIOSCC in order to determine its clinicopathological characteristics and...
Abstract Tracheocele is a herniation of the tracheal mucosa through a defect in the tracheal wall. Familiar and/or genetical factors have never been taken into consideration in the etiopathogenesis of acquired tracheocele. Acquired tracheocele occurred in a brother and a sister from India. CT scan of the neck showed an air cyst next to the right tracheal wall. They underwent surgical excision through a transverse cervical incision. Histopathology of the lesion revealed a fibrous...
Abstract Salivary gland tumors (SGT) represent an uncommon heterogeneous group of tumors with complex clinical and pathological characteristics. The prevalence of these lesions varies between studies but has been estimated between 3 and 6% of all tumors in the head and neck region. The present study aimed to evaluate the distribution and demographic findings of salivary gland tumors diagnosed in an oral pathology service in Mexico. A retrospective descriptive cross-sectional study...

Abstract Adenomatous neuroendocrine tumors of the middle ear (MEANTs) are very rare neoplasms which are composed of both epithelial and neuroendocrine components. They have mostly bland histology and indolent biological behavior, yet they may recur and metastasize. Here we present a case of MEANT with ipsilateral local brain, bone and nerve invasion and bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy in a 48 years old male with history of recurrent chronic otitis media and cholesteatoma. The patient underwent...
Abstract Introduction Cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) cytomorphologic analysis remains the gold standard in the evaluation of malignant leptomeningeal involvement. However, collection of optimal volumes for adequate cytomorphologic evaluation is not standardized. Our study investigated optimal CSF volumes that result in a significant diagnostic result. Methods A total of 4114 samples were retrospectively identified from 2014 to 2018, and 2557 samples had concurrent flow cytometry (FC) study....

Abstract Molluscum contagiosum (MC) is a common cutaneous viral infection with no standard treatment. The virus responsible for MC is thought to be cleared by cell mediated immunity (CMI). In this review, we evaluate the efficacy and safety of intralesional immunotherapy in the treatment of MC. Articles met inclusion criteria if they examined the effects of intralesional immunotherapy...
