However, uptake remains low in Nigeria among adolescent girls. This study was a qualitative study that assessed mothers’ acceptability and concerns regarding uptake of HPV vaccine by their adolescent daughters. Population genomic structure in Goodman's mouse lemur reveals long-standing separation of Madagascar's Central Highlands and eastern rainforests [NEW RESULTS]
The Central Highland Plateau of Madagascar is largely composed of grassland savanna, interspersed with patches of closed-canopy forest. Conventional wisdom has it that these grasslands are anthropogenic in nature, having been created very recently via human agricultural practices. Yet, the ancient origins of the endemic grasses suggest that the extensive savannas are natural biomes, similar to others found around the globe. We use a phylogeographic approach to compare these two competing scenarios....

Heparan sulfate proteoglycan‐mediated dynamin‐dependent transport of neural stem cell exosomes in an in vitro blood‐brain barrier model
Abstract Drug delivery to the brain is greatly hampered by the presence of the blood‐brain barrier (BBB) which tightly regulates the passage of molecules from blood to brain and vice versa. Nanocarriers, in which drugs can be encapsulated, can move across the blood‐brain barrier (BBB) via the process of transcytosis, thus showing promise to improve drug delivery to the brain. Here, we demonstrate the use of natural nanovesicles, i.e., exosomes, derived from C17.2 neural stem cells (NSCs) to efficiently...

Plasmonic Hot Electrons from Oxygen Vacancies for Infrared Light‐Driven Catalytic CO2 Reduction on Bi2O3‐x
Current plasmonic photocatalysts are mainly based on noble metal nanoparticles and rarely work in the infrared (IR) light range. Here, cost‐effective Bi 2 O 3‐ x with oxygen vacancies was formed in situ on commercial bismuth powder by calcination at 453.15 K in atmosphere. Interestingly, defects introduced into Bi 2 O 3‐ x simultaneously induced a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in the wavelength range of 600‐1400 nm and enhanced the adsorption for CO 2 molecules, which enabled...

Modulating single‐atom Pd sites with Cu for enhanced ambient ammonia electrosynthesis
The electrochemical reduction of N 2 to NH 3 is emerging as a promising alternative for sustainable and distributed production of NH 3 . To address the issues, we design a catalyst with diatomic Pd‐Cu sites on N‐doped carbon by modulation of single‐atom Pd sites with Cu. The introduction of Cu not only shifts the partial density states of Pd toward...

Previous studies on this group using microsatellite markers proposed that occasional hybrids are found. Limited genetic parallels underlie convergent evolution of quantitative pattern variation in mimetic butterflies
Abstract Mimetic systems allow us to address the question of whether the same genes control similar phenotypes in different species.
