Propionibacterium acnes Septic Pericarditis in a Patient With Sarcoidosis and Acne.

Propionibacterium acnes has been recently recognized as a common cause of pericarditis in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised hosts. It is frequently missed on routine cultures because of its slow growth. We present the first case of infective pericarditis caused by P. acnes in a man with acne and severe sarcoidosis.
