Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy is an opportunistic infection well described in non-human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) patients receiving rituximab in whom it is associated with high mortality. Although immune reconstitution contributes the most to recovery in HIV-positive patients, no viable treatment option exists for non-HIV patients.
