The evolving diagnosis of noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP)

The publication of the noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP) study by Nikiforov and colleagues in 2016 [1] was a significant achievement for patients with thyroid neoplasms. The NIFTP diagnosis, which was included in the fourth edition of the WHO Tumors of Endocrine Organs [2], is having a major impact on thyroid cytology and surgical pathology as well as on surgical and medical practice in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid neoplasms.
