Radial incision and cutting for refractory benign esophageal stricture

Abstract

Reflux esophagitis, corrosive esophagitis, and esophageal ulcers may cause esophageal stricture after healing. The standard treatment is endoscopic balloon dilation (EBD). Radial incision and cutting (RIC) of scar tissue at the narrowed segment is an effective treatment for strictures refractory to EBD [1][2].
