Cannulation into the minor papilla using the bile duct guidewire method

Abstract

Pancreas divisum (PD) is a common anatomical variant of the pancreatic duct system. PD causes recurrent acute pancreatitis (RAP). Endoscopic therapy has been shown to be highly effective in reducing pancreatitis due to PD. Therefore, endoscopic therapy is essential in patients with symptomatic PD. However, endoscopic therapy is challenging because the minor papilla has almost no elevation or apparent orifice and the movement or placement of endoscope is unstable.
