Strictures after endoscopic submucosal dissection of the esophagus: Are the histopathological findings the same between human and porcine models?

Abstract

Since the composition of the muscularis propria of the esophagus is different between porcine models and humans (mainly skeletal muscle in the former, and smooth muscle in the latter), it is not clear as to whether the histological findings of strictures after ESD are similar between the two models.

In the present study, we performed a retrospective analysis of one case that required surgery for severe strictures after ESD of the entire circumference of the esophagus.
