Abstract
We read the article entitled 'Endoscopic biodegradable biliary stents in the treatment of benign biliary strictures: First report on clinical use in patients' by Siiki et al with great interest (1). The authors successfully treated two patients with benign biliary strictures, possibly due to choledocholithiasis, with endoscopic insertion of polydioxanone biodegradable biliary stents. They reported that the treatment was uneventful and the stents were completely dissolved between 3 and 6 months without leaving a sequela in the bile ducts.
