Pulmonary Hypertension Secondary to Scurvy in a Developmentally Typical Child

A healthy 17-year-old male patient presented to an emergency department with a 2-week history of leg pain, bruising without trauma, and chest pain. Additional history revealed gum bleeding, a diet devoid of fruits and vegetables, and hours spent indoors playing video games. Physical examination was notable for loud P2, symmetric pedal edema, bilateral lower extremity tender ecchymosis, petechiae, and corkscrew hairs (Figure).
