Is the Importance of Heart Dose Overstated in the Treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer? A Systematic Review of the Literature

Although some recent studies have suggested that higher heart dose may be predictive of worse survival in NSCLC, others have reported conflicting data. Through this systematic review of the literature, we assessed the relationship between cardiac dosimetric variables and outcomes and found that heart dose-volume parameters were not consistently associated with survival or cardiac toxicity.
