Dose response and fractionation sensitivity of prostate cancer after external beam radiotherapy: A meta-analysis of randomized trials

Estimation of α/β for biochemical control (bNED) of prostate cancer from meta-analysis of randomized trials (10.184 patients). Resulting α/β=1.2 Gy (95% CI: 0.8-1.7 Gy) assuming no effect of overall treatment time and α/β=2.7 Gy (95% CI: 1.6-3.8 Gy) if 0.31 Gy is lost per day. Heterogeneity suggests saturation of dose response beyond 80 Gy effective dose (p=0.04). Data presents no evidence of dose response for overall survival or association between improvement in OS and bNED.
