The current treatment paradigm for advanced laryngeal cancer includes functional organ preservation with optimal oncologic outcomes. Despite being established by prospective randomized data, the disease heterogeneity of this patient population has led investigators to question the universal applicability of this model, notably, for patients with T4a and most recently T3 disease.
