High-High-resolution Anorectal Manometry Measures are More Accurate Than Conventional Measures in Detecting Anal Hypocontractility in Women With Fecal Incontinence

Anorectal manometry (ARM) is a common test of anal sphincter function. However, is has poor ability to detect differences in sphincter function between patients with vs without symptoms of fecal incontinence. We investigated whether new measures of anal resting and squeeze function, made by high-resolution anal manometry (HR-ARM), more accurately identify women with abnormal sphincter function that those derived from conventional ARM (C-ARM).
