Real-time Histological Imaging of a Superficial Non-Ampullary Duodenal Epithelial Tumor using Endocytoscopy

Abstract

Endocytoscopy enables observation of the cellular nuclei of the mucosal surface. Accurate endoscopic diagnosis without biopsy confirmation is required for duodenal lesions since post-biopsy fibrosis complicates the process of endoscopic resection [1,2]. Endocytoscopy shows great potential to reveal cytological abnormalities [3]; however, little is known about the typical endocytoscopic findings for duodenal tumors.
