Suboptimal Interobserver Agreement Among Cytopathologists for Endoscopic Ultrasound Fine Needle Aspirates of Solid Pancreatic Lesions

Despite the widespread use of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) and the standardization of pancreaticobiliary cytopathologic nomenclature, data on interobserver agreement (IOA) amongst cytopathologists evaluating pancreatic tissue specimens are limited. We aimed to assess IOA among cytopathologists evaluating EUS-FNA specimens of solid pancreatic lesions for overall cytologic diagnosis and quantitative and qualitative parameters using a novel standardized scoring tool and to evaluate predictors of agreement.
