Response to: Using Carbon Monoxide Releasing Molecules in Models of Pre-Eclampsia: When Should We Be Monitoring Vascular Effects?

We thank McRae and Smith for their interest in our recent article "Carbon Monoxide Releasing Molecules Blunts Placental Ischemia-Induced Hypertension," and for allowing us to clarify a misunderstanding regarding our experimental protocol. They were concerned about possible transient effects of the effect of CO donors on maternal hypertension. This is due to an error in the methods section stating that the CO donor molecule was administered on GD14–19. However, as stated in the body of the manuscript, the CO donor was only administered on GD 14–18, and the pressures measured on GD 19 were performed approximately 24 hours after the final administration. We apologize for this discrepancy, and an erratum to address this error is in preparation. To address a second minor point, the CO donor was administered by jugular catheter.
