Preventing childhood obesity

Over the past 20 years, there has been a large body of research on the treatment of obesity in children and adolescents. A variety of different therapeutic approaches, including child alone, parent alone, and parent/child combinations have been studied. In this time, there have been fewer studies of prevention of childhood obesity. This means that, in practice, many efforts at prevention have simply incorporated approaches used in the treatment of obesity. However, it should be noted that prevention and treatment are 2 potentially very different clinical scenarios.
