Effect of acacia honey-impregnated placenta membrane on pain and burn wound repair

Abstract

The most critical kind of thermal injury is burn. Acacia honey and placenta membrane were demonstrated as a suitable natural biological wound medical care. This study is done to investigate the effect of acacia honey-impregnated placenta membrane in second-degree burn healing in male Wistar rats. For the present study, 64 male Wistar rats were accidentally separated into four groups: control, placenta membrane, acacia honey-impregnated placenta membrane, and silver sulfadiazine-impregnated placenta membrane groups. Second-degree burn was made for all experimental Wistar rats, under the general anesthesia. To evaluate pain in this survey, we achieve RGS scale, and to evaluate the effect of each modality, incisional biopsy was performed from burn and adjacent non-burn regions. Data analysis was performed by using descriptive and statistical analysis manners (p value < 0.05). The RGS scale before burn damage does not show considerable pain, but after burn damage, the facial images of rats present intense pain. Seven days after initial medical care, statistical analysis disclosed that the acacia honey-impregnated placenta membrane-treated Wistar rats were considerably in lower pain than the three another groups. Also, in this group, the number of PMN leukocyte was considerably lower, and amount of granulation tissue formation and number of fibroblasts were greater (p value < 0.05). A suitable dressing for burn wound therapy and improvement of associated pain was the acacia honey-impregnated placenta membrane.
