In their very interesting study, See et al1 assessed early technique failure in a cohort of peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients and identified use of automated PD (APD) and small size of the PD center as factors associated with increased risk. In addition, inadequate dialysis (probably both inadequate uremic solute clearance and ultrafiltration) was a common cause of technique failure.
