The rising prevalence of early-onset colorectal cancer: Ready and FIT to tackle?

In persons 50 years old and older, the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer (CRC) have been falling for more than 3 decades. This success-in-progress is tempered by the rising incidence of CRC in persons under age 50. Persons younger than 50 account for 8% to 10% of CRC diagnoses; they tend to present with more-advanced disease and to have a less-favorable prognosis than do persons 50 years old and older.1-3
