Speechless

Bright blue eyes rimmed with deep sun wrinkles, a crown of mousy brown hair that appeared freshly cut by a four-year old with safety scissors, the patient was thin figured, wearing a flannel, yellowed t-shirt peaking from underneath, and a boxy, heavily stained canvas jacket over the shoulders. Old jeans were cinched at the waist by a crackled leather belt. The dirty right foot which lay bare on the stretcher was then thrust at me. The patient pointed angrily at the exposed foot.
