Budesonide oral suspension (BOS) is a novel mucoadherent topical corticosteroid formulation designed specifically for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). In an early 12-week double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized phase 2 trial, it has been shown to improve dysphagia as well as histologic and endoscopic features in adolescents and adults with EoE. This issue of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology includes data from the 24-week open-label extension study of this randomized trial.
