A Jejunal Dieulafoy’s Lesion Mimicking a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor

A previously healthy 41-year-old man presented to our hospital with hematochezia and syncope for 3 days. Single-balloon enteroscopy was performed after an initial negative esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy. Single-balloon enteroscopy showed a 10-mm submucosal protruding lesion at the proximal jejunum (Figure A), with a minute mucosal defect (Figure B) suggestive of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor. A resection of the jejunal lesion was performed. Surgical pathology showed a large-caliber, thick-walled, submucosal artery with intraluminal thrombosis formation and fibrin deposition protruding through a small mucosal defect (Figure C; H&E, original magnification, ×20).
