The Red Journal's Top Downloads of 2016

How do we measure an individual paper's impact on science and clinical practice? Traditionally we have tracked the number of times a paper is cited in the literature and these citations go on to form a component of the author's H-factor and the journal's Impact Factor. Citations are thus important but they accumulate very slowly, over years, and reflect only the interest of other academics and "academia-heavy" nations. It is often both useful and interesting to know how much interest a paper is generating in real time.
