BabyBIG has BIG advantages for treatment of infant botulism

In this volume of The Journal, senior author Stephen S. Arnon from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) contributes 2 valuable studies that are the collective experience of diagnosing and treating infant botulism over more than a decade in the United States. Botulinum antitoxin (Baby BIG), the singular treatment of infant botulism, was developed, produced, and then proved to be effective by the CDPH in the pivotal placebo-controlled clinical trial in 1997, and Baby Big continues to be distributed by the CDPH since licensure in 2003.
