Palpable Pancreatic Duct Due to Pancreatic Head Mass in a Patient With Chronic Calcific Pancreatitis

A 57-year-old woman presented with episodic epigastric pain radiating to her back for the past 2 years, necessitating oral analgesics. For the preceding 3 months, the pain had increased and required multiple hospitalizations. On palpation a vague, soft, horizontally placed, cystic, 10 × 5 cm lump was palpable in the epigastric area. On abdominal roentgenogram multiple calcifications were seen along the pancreatic duct (Figure A), and ultrasonography showed a hugely dilated (4 cm) pancreatic duct (Figure B).
