A kaleidoscope of nanostructured bismuth oxysulfide systems – the photoelectrode described by Eugene A. Streltsov, Ekaterina V. Skorb, and co-workers in article number 1702387 – which is synthesized by the easy and cheap chemical bath deposition method, is featured with a surprising giant incident photon-to-current conversion (IPCE about 2500%) under visible illumination. Light opens a channel for charge carriers from the external circuit to participate in the photoreduction process for a new generation of high-performance photodetectors and photostimulated charge pumping.
