Do you know what SUDEP is?

Families of children with epilepsy want to discuss the risks and complications of their child's disorder, including death. Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) is the rare instance when a person dies suddenly with no explanation other than a seizure being the primary cause. Among children, SUDEP might occur in only one of several thousand patients a year, usually those who are developmentally delayed, epileptic early in life, affected by generalized tonic-clinic seizures, chronically epileptic and refractory to antiepileptic drugs, or perhaps harboring a genetic mutation responsible for epilepsy.
