Spinal cord stimulation trial, patient and device selection, and implantation technique

Proven to be a successful treatment modality for several chronic pain conditions including Failed Back Surgery Syndrome, spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has many benefits as both a cost-effective and reversible technique. Prior to permanent implantation technique of the device, trial placement is performed to establish expected benefit. Lead location, stimulation parameters, and power source selection are optimized on a case-by-case basis. A recent addition to the growing field of neuromodulation, SCS is a promising new technology with many additional applications yet to be fully elucidated.
