Introduction
Suprachoroidal haemorrhage (SCH) describes bleeding into the suprachoroidal space, a potential space between the choroid and the sclera of the eye. Although rare and estimated to occur in 0.2%–0.9% of cataract surgery cases,1 it can result in loss of vision.
We describe a case of SCH following an intravitreal injection (IVI).
Case reportAn 80-year-old man presented with a 1-day history of pain and loss of vision in his left eye following an IVI for macular degeneration. He had previously undergone retinal detachment surgery in the same eye with a vitrectomy.
Examination revealed 360° SCH (figure 1) associated with a low intraocular pressure (IOP). An ocular ultrasound scan (B-scan) performed at presentation demonstrated the suprachoroidal space as hyperechoic, which was consistent with SCH.
